Privacy policy
How we handle account, location, tracks, and payments data.
Offroad Junkies (“we”, “us”) is a product of Oerity (the Netherlands). This policy explains what personal data we process when you use offroadjunkies.nl, the web app, and the Android app.
1. Who is responsible
Controller: Oerity, the Netherlands. Questions: use our contact form.
2. What we collect
- Account: email, name/display name, password hash (or Google Sign-In identifiers), profile fields you choose (e.g. bio, avatar).
- Usage & content: saved tracks/GPX, route requests, ride hints, buddy/friend links, preferences (language, appearance), support messages.
- Location: precise location when you grant permission (map GPS follow, live recording, ride-hint alerts). Location is processed on your device and/or sent to our servers only as needed for those features; we do not sell location data.
- Payments: subscription status and billing provider (Stripe on web; Google Play on Android). Card details are handled by Stripe or Google — we do not store full card numbers.
- Technical: IP address, device/browser info, cookies/local storage for session and preferences, crash/diagnostics where available.
- Ads (free tier): affiliate/promotional content (e.g. Amazon Associates today; Commission Junction / similar later). Those partners may receive limited technical data when ads load or you click through.
3. Why we process data
- Provide the service (accounts, map, routing, tracks, Pro features).
- Process subscriptions and entitlements.
- Security, abuse prevention, and support.
- Improve the product (aggregated/anonymous where possible).
- Show relevant gear/affiliate offers on the free tier.
- Legal obligations where applicable.
Legal bases under GDPR: contract (providing the service), legitimate interests (security, product improvement, non-intrusive affiliate offers), consent where required (e.g. device location permission; certain cookies/ad tags when we add a consent flow), and legal obligation.
4. Processors & third parties
- Hosting: server hosting in the EU (currently Hetzner).
- Payments: Stripe (web); Google Play Billing (Android).
- Auth: Google Sign-In if you choose it.
- Maps / routing: map tile providers and public BRouter for route calculation (waypoints you send for a route).
- Affiliate partners: Amazon and future networks such as CJ when enabled.
These parties process data under their own terms where you interact with them directly (e.g. Google, Stripe Checkout, Play Store).
5. Retention
We keep account and track data while your account is active. After deletion or inactivity we remove or anonymise data within a reasonable period, unless we must keep it longer for legal, tax, or dispute reasons. Payment records may be retained as required by law or the payment provider.
6. Your rights (EEA/UK)
You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and object to certain processing. You may withdraw consent where processing is consent-based (e.g. revoke location permission in system settings). Contact us via the contact form. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in the Netherlands: Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
7. Cookies & local storage
We use essential cookies/storage for login sessions and preferences (e.g. language, theme). The map Service Worker may cache assets for offline use. We plan a clearer cookie/consent banner before loading non-essential third-party ad tags.
8. Children
The service is aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.
9. Security
We use HTTPS and standard access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change; material changes may also be announced in the app or by email when appropriate.
